Welcome to Capital GymSports

Capital Gymsports (also known as Capital Gymnastics) is Wellington’s only integrated gymsports facility. Our 25 experienced coaches and large membership base of 470 allow us to provide a wide range of specialised classes for all abilities.

• We provide pre-school, recreational and competitive gymnastics classes
• We cater for all age groups from pre-schoolers to adults
• We offer training in all gymnastics disciplines – artistic, rhythmic, display and trampoline
• We keep our class sizes small to ensure individual attention
• Our newly refurbished gymnasium is in a central location with ample parking
• Our facility is available for hire for school or sports groups and for birthday parties.

Our club has operated in Wellington for 40 years and gymnasts from Capital Gymsport have competed successfully in national and international competitions.

Last year, Capital Gymsports relocated from Kaiwharawhara to Newtown. We are now located in a newly refurbished facility at the Wellington School of Dance and Drama at 11 Hutchison Road. Capital Gymsport would like to thank the following organisations for their generous grants to support our relocation costs: Pelorus Trust, Mainland Foundation, New Zealand Community Trust, Endeavour Community Trust, Lion Foundation, and Southern Trust.

Gymnastics is the best type of training a young person can receive in any sports-related activity. The base skills learnt can and are carried forward to the great benefit of any other sport the individual subsequently takes up. GymSports clubs run classes that are full of activities to encourage brain development, balance, gross motor skills, spatial awareness, vision and development of fundamental movement patterns.

Gymsports require significant resources, including trained coaches, a quality premises, and well-maintained equipment. We endeavour to keep fees at a reasonable level by fundraising for equipment upgrades and competition costs; and we are also able to subsidise children who may not otherwise be able to participate through a grant in perpetuity from the W & M Bear Trust.

Capital Gymsports is a not-for-profit incorporated society and is affiliated to Gymsports NZ.
